Another additional accumulation of 2-4 inches are possible through this afternoon especially across the southeastern sections of the area. In addition to the snowfall, gusty winds are making conditions very treacherous this afternoon over the region with blowing and drifting snow causing near whiteout conditions.

The other major weather headline is the brutal cold airmass on the way later this afternoon and evening. It is predicted to be the coldest airmass in nearly 20 years. Temperatures are expected to dip below zero by midnight and not rise above zero until Tuesday afternoon. Wind chills during this time frame will range as low as 50 degrees below zero.
