January 31st, “Inspire Your Heart with Art Day,” celebrates art and the effect it can have on your heart. Works of art reflect the “matchless mind of man, displayed in treasures from his hands” but they are sometimes undervalued, overlooked and often unappreciated. The last day of January is thus designated as a time to elevate the heart and soul through observing and/or creating works of art.
In a list of the top five holidays in January posted on listmyfive.com, ponchomeg offers the following suggestions to celebrate Inspire Your Heart with Art Day:
On this day, go to an art museum, read art books, go to a gallery or exhibition, create art yourself, and/or make art with friends, family members, and people in the community. Basically increase and share your love of art and inspire others.
To develop an appreciation for Art in its many forms, a great place to start is the Columbus Museum of Art, a widely celebrated institution with the following mission:
Columbus Museum of Art's mission is to create great experiences with great art for everyone. Whether we are presenting an exhibition, designing an art-making activity, serving a lunch, or giving directions to a visitor, we are guided by a belief in advocacy, quality, community, integrity, and creativity. We believe that art speaks to each and every one of us in different ways. Art inspires. Art challenges. Art thinks.
The museum provides a wide range of programs, appealing to students of all ages, with art for families, adults, teachers and scholars.
Adults can enjoy special exhibitions, art movements or a particular artist in the collection. The Museum also provides introductory lectures as well as hands-on art experiences for children.
The Center for Creativity, an 18,000 square-foot area, provides countless experiences connected with art. Visitors can explore, learn, design, and craft their own works of art. Families can work together to build a sculpture or fort and learn more about each other and art.
The Columbus Museum of Art is a great place to visit, not only on "Inspire Your Heart with Art Day" but throughout the year.
