From the producers of Dawn of the Dead come The Thing, the chilling prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 cult classic of the same name. The film is directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, Ulrich Thomsen, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Eric Christian Olsen. Based on the novel Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell, in 1982 a Norwegian research team unearths an alien and its extraterrestrial spaceship beneath the Antarctic ice. Paleontologist Kate Lloyd is invited to join Dr. Sander Halvorson and his assistant Adam Finch on an expedition of a lifetime to investigate the discovery. Upon their arrival, the frozen alien is transported in the block of ice to the Norwegian base for further research. Against Kate’s warnings, Sander immediately orders tissue samples of the alien. Later that evening as the team celebrate their remarkable find, the alien is alive and breaks free from its frozen prison. Capable of mimicking its victims, fear and paranoia spread like wildfire as the alien pits human against human and mayhem ensues. As both species fight for survival, who will prevail?
