January 31, 2012 Blu-ray: Malcolm X with Denzel Washington and Angela Bassett

Coming to Blu-ray for the very first time is the critically acclaimed iconic film Malcolm X to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Directed by Spike Lee, the 1992 film stars Denzel Washington (who was nominated for an Academy Award), Angela Bassett, Albert Hall, Al Freeman, Jr. and Delroy Lindo. It dramatizes the key events of visionary leader Malcolm X’s life and is largely based on Alex Haley's 1965 book, The Autobiography of Malcolm X. The film follows his days from a small-time criminal known as Malcolm “Detroit Red” Little, through his conversion to the Islamic faith while in prison, his marriage to Betty X, his fallout with the Nation of Islam, the pilgrimage to Mecca and finally his assassination.
