From acclaimed screenwriter and director Mabrouk El Mechri of JCVD comes the action thriller film The Cold Light of Day, which he directed. It stars Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill, Golden Globe winners Sigourney Weaver and Bruce Willis, and three-time Goya Awards nominee Verónica Echegui.
Will Shaw reluctantly heads to Spain for a weeklong sailing vacation with his family. Already in a bad mood, his world gets turned upside down when he heads to town for some medicine after an accident and returns to find his family has been kidnapped. At first he tries to get help from the local police, but instead ends up meeting one of the kidnappers Zahir -- who turns out to be an Israeli intelligence agent. Sensing something is wrong, he barely escapes when his father Martin shows up. He explains to his son that he is a CIA agent and the kidnappers are after a briefcase he took before he gets shot by a sniper.
Alone with no one to trust, Will heads to the U.S. Embassy, but finds out he is a wanted criminal for a murder he did not commit. He ends up meeting Martin’s partner Jean Carrack who offers help, but he does not trust her. On the run, he reaches out to one of Martin’s contacts and ends up discovering he has a half-sister named Lucia. Together, Will and Lucia learn that Jean is corrupt and help Zahir to get the briefcase back in exchange for the safety of Will’s family.
