Artist and director Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, and Sym-Bionic Titan, makes his feature directorial debut in the computer-animated family monster comedy film Hotel Transylvania. It features the all-star voice cast that includes Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade and Cee Lo Green.
The protective father Dracula has created the five-stakes resort Hotel Transylvania to keep his daughter Mavis safe from humans and also to give the world’s monsters a human-free sanctuary to vacation and live it up. On a special weekend, Dracula has invited his best friends -- Frankenstein and his wife, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, the Werewolf family, and more -- to celebrate Mavis’s 118th birthday. However, she would rather attain her father’s blessing to explore the world outside of Hotel Transylvania. In an elaborate scheme to convince his daughter about the dangers of humans, he inadvertently ends up with an unwanted guest knocking at the door -- a pesky young human traveler named Jonathan. Now Dracula’s worse fears are about to come true when Mavis and Jonathan fall in love and create a monster problem.
The DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D contain plenty of kid-friendly extras, including the mini-movie “Goodnight Mr. Foot,” directed by the feature’s award-winning director Tartakovsky; “Problem (Monster Remix)” music video; three deleted scenes; filmmaker commentary and more. Exclusive to Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D are three progression reels and two featurettes. “Meet the Staff and Guests: Voicing Hotel Transylvania” takes a look at the cast, their voices, and the fun they bring to the film. “Making the Hotel” features an inside look at how the filmmakers and animators created the Hotel Transylvania. Only available on Blu-ray 3D is the feature film in 3D.
