Robert Burns Birthday
So, today is Robert Burns birthday. A good time to try your hand at a few Scottish recipes. Even if you’ve never heard of him, I’ll just bet you’ve heard of something he wrote and most likely sing it once a year. He was the author of “For Auld Lang Syne.”
His life was rather turbulent and his laudability can be argued, but he left behind a large body of work. It is traditional on his birthday to celebrate with haggis and whiskey. Haggis has received a lot of bad P.R. over the years. In actuality it’s really nothing more than a meat loaf cooked a sheep’s stomach instead of a dish. Ah come on … don’t wrinkle up your nose. You eat sausages and they’re cooked in sheep’s intestines.
Perhaps an easier way to celebrate the "Bard of Scotland's" birthday would be with Scones and Lemon Curd.
