January 17: Launchpad helps kick off tour for The Ground Beneath

On January 17, Albuquerque’s own Launchpad helps kick off the tour of Albuquerque’s The Ground Beneath. This killer show also features Beard, Requiem Mass, Illumina, and Questionable Fate. Doors for this 21+ show are scheduled to open at 8 p.m., with the first band taking the stage at 9 p.m. Entry is only $7 but is subject to change at the door.

Albuquerque’s The Ground Beneath play Southern-driven metal with plenty of sass. The band has a new self-titled CD out, which it will play in its entirety. The Ground Beneath average around 80 shows each year, traveling across the 13 states that surround New Mexico. Get their CDs at Amazon.

Albuquerque’s Beard play a combination of doom and power metal—what they call space punk. As the band says: “Beard is bullsh#t. . . . Crank it!” The band’s debut CD it titled Black Unicorn.

Albuquerque’s Requiem Mass play blistering metal with progressive touches. The band’s latest CD is titled The Cure.

Albuquerque’s Illumina play metal. The band’s latest full-length studio CD is titled The Black Guardian.

Albuquerque’s Questionable Fate play melodic metalcore. This is what the band says regarding their live performances: “We work hard at what we do, and we play even harder. That is what you can expect to see when you see us live.”

Around since 1997, Albuquerque’s Launchpad has played host to bands of numerous genres, including punk, indie rock, and metal. The Launchpad is located on 618 Central Avenue Southwest, which is between 6th and 7th streets.
