Lee Daniels’ The Butler tells the story of Cecil Gaines, the African-American White House butler who served seven American presidents over three decades. During the course of his employment at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, he witnessed some of the most tumultuous and defining moments of the 20th century -- from desegregation and the civil rights movement to John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassinations, the Vietnam War and beyond. The dramatic changes that swept American society during these 30 years deeply affected Cecil and his family’s lives -- bringing joy and strife.

Special features include “Lee Daniels’ The Butler: An American Story,” “The Original Freedom Riders,” “You And I Ain’t Nothin’ No More” performed by Gladys Knight and Lenny Kravitz, deleted scenes and a gag reel.
