This New York Fashion Week event showcased designer and creative director Kourosh Babaian's elegant Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Fashion line Janique features gorgeous evening gowns, cocktail and special occasion dresses, separates, mother of the bride gowns, and more. The fashion show presented gowns in nude, white, black, and jewel tones, and featured long sleeves, layering, and lace. It was a beautiful runway show at Onegin NYC (391 Avenue of the Americas) that began with a light brunch and ended with an after party and live band. Produced by Starbaby Enterprises, this Fashion Week event was organized, stylish, and entertaining. Check out my exclusive interview with Kourosh below!
BROWNIE MARIE: Both of your parents were involved in fashion-- your father as a boutique and fabric store owner, and your mother created evening gowns. How does that continue to inspire your designs?
KOUROSH BABAIAN: I grew up around a lot of women, and I love designing clothes that make women feel beautiful. Modesty is also very important in my culture and, if you noticed, all the dresses were long-sleeved [or had other layering].
What feelings were you trying to envoke with this collection?
1950's glamour. Lots of lace, elegant, sleek, yet modest.
What's next for Janique?
You will have to see! We are already working on the next collection.
Can you give me any exclusives or sneak peeks of what we can expect?
I like to play with shapes, I will tell you that. I love shapes.
Sponsors for the event included: Vera Moore Cosmetics, Pop Beauty Makeup, Kashmir Keratin Hair Systems, Dance With Me Soho, Vada Spa, Lucy B Cosmetics, Regal Wings, and more.
