Janet Jackson will not be performing at the tribute concerts planned to honor her brother, Michael at London's 02 Arena August 29 and 30.
Despite a source telling MSNBC.com, "Over the weekend there was talk of Janet being the surprise opening act," the singer's rep said any rumors of her involvement are "false."
A family friend said, “Janet has plenty going on as it is — she’s filming a movie (Why Did I Get Married Too in Atlanta) and she’s involved in Michael’s kids’ lives. These concerts are not about her and she respects that. She’s always been independent.”
The tribute concerts are set to commemorate what would have been Michael's 51st birthday on August 29. According to a source, brothers Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Marlon have been involved in "every part of the concerts' planning process."
