Janet Jackson's self help book comes out next week (VIDEO)

Janet Jackson talks about body image, bullying and more on this interview while discussing her new book "True You".

The much anticipated book by Janet Jackson True You comes out February 15. She was interviewed on NBC Today Show with Meredith Vieira. As one of the most beautiful women in the entertainment industry it is surprising to know she had problems with her own looks and body image. Even though she is the baby sister of one of America’s most famous families The Jacksons she had problems being teased by her big brothers and a distant father who made her call him Jospeh instead of dad. Growing up right outside of Chicago in Gary, Indiana she was like many women in Chicago who can relate to her story of being teased for her butt and being a little chunky as she was developing into a woman. She said in the interview she wished she could look like her big sister Rebbie.

"I hated what I saw in the mirror. I would literally bang my head against the wall because I felt ugly. I would literally bang my head up against the wall because I didn’t feel attractive, there was so much going on in my life. I felt very unattractive. It stemmed from my childhood. I would always look at her [Older sister Rebbie] picture and think gosh she’s so beautiful if I could only look like that when I get older."

When she was a young girl playing the role of Penny on Good Times she had to bin her chest because she was developing early and they wanted her to have a flat chest. They also wanted her to loose weight.

The book shares fitness tips and recipes from her trainer. At age 43 she looks better than ever and the book should be very popular. She dedicated her book to her brother Michael who she was very close to and still thinks of him every day.
