Janet Jackson and billionaire businessman Wissam Al Mana have squashed the marriage rumors flying about their impending nuptials by announcing that the pair are already married and have been for the last year.
In a joint statement the couple told Entertainment Tonight,'The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true.' The announcement refutes all of the increasingly numerous reports that she was planning an 'extravagant' wedding to Al Mana.
'Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony. Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children’s charities.
The two had previously kept their relationship very low key, and ignored reports that they were set to wed in a $20 million ceremony, and would spend $3 million to fly in 500 wedding guests to Doha, Qatar, from all over the world.
After their surprise announcement the couple added: 'We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy.'
