Jane Velez-Mitchell brought up some good points on Wednesday in her latest post reflecting on America's priorities. The talk show host had noticed those individuals who are concerned about protecting the institution of marriage and have been fighting any gay couple looking to get married, haven’t discussed the bold message Kim Kardashian is sending out by using the wedding for TV ratings.
“So, when Kim turns around and files for divorce after 2 months, what kind of message does that send to Americans about the sanctity of the marriage vows?” asks Jane Velez-Mitchell on her blog. “Where’s the outrage amongst those who claim to be so fiercely intent on protecting the institution of marriage?”
Looking to protect the sanctity of marriage by barring same sex couples to exchange vows, opponents are extremely vocal when it comes to the issue, but like Velez-Mitchell has mentioned, it is strange none of those same people are apparently angered that the reality star has used the marriage as a ploy.
The talk show host accuses American’s of being addicted to the drama that plays out on television. Sharing that the guilty pleasure of watching the television show isn’t illegal to watch and neither should be the idea of everyone getting married, Jane Velez-Mitchell reminds everyone that we have our priorities out of order.
