Jane Pauley pens new book for baby boomers

Simon & Schuster

Jane Pauley, one of America’s top broadcast journalists, has written a new book. Your Life Calling: Reimaging the Rest of Your Life is released today, Jan. 7, 2014, by publisher Simon & Schuster.

According to the publisher, in 2014 every baby boomer will have reached the milestone age of 50 and for most, it’s not an end but the beginning of something new. “This is the awakening of a generation to the opportunities that lie ahead. Research has shown that people in their fifties are more vital now than they were only ten years ago. They’re saying, “I’m game, I’m up for it, I want to do more.”

Pauley, 63, writes about the opportunities of her generation—and the next one too—by offering insight filled with humor about the journey forward.

Your Life Calling, according to Simon & Schuster, “is a fresh look at ideas that have been simmering since boomers first entered midlife with a different perspective on the future than any generation before. The theme of “more to come” and maybe the “best” is at the heart of Pauley’s latest book.

In addition to telling her own story, Pauley introduces readers to other people she has featured on her award-winning Today show segment: Life Reimagined Today. They range from an executive who took up knitting to a boomer who began a stand-up comic career.

The 272-page book is aimed at providing inspiration for anyone asking “What am I going to do with my supersized life?”

From 1976 to 1989 Pauley was the co-host, with Tom Brokaw on The Today Show.
