‘Jane Got a Gun’ western film changes actors before shooting begins

The new western “Jane Got a Gun” recently halted the beginning of production because the lead actor Michael Fassbender had to drop out. Why? The filming in Santa Fe, N.M. would interrupt his other production called, “X-men: Days of Future Past.” The Hollywood Reporter (THR) broke the story last week & in the magazine’s special double issue on newsstands Mar. 22, 2013. They report on who will fill the male lead of the western starring Natalie Portman. The production budget of the film is a reported $15,000,000 & will be filming in the state of New Mexico. Joel Edgerton who was originally cast as the villain will take over the lead role from Fassbender. Jude Law has now come on board as the villain.

According to THR the synopsis of the western is right here - “Jane Got a Gun - centers on a woman (Natalie Portman) whose outlaw husband returns home riddled with bullet wounds and barely alive. When her husband’s gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job - she is forced to reach out to an ex-lover (Joel Edgerton) and ask if he will help defend her farm.”

Jane Got a Gun” had several casting calls that were released to social media networks 2013. - On Jan. 30, ‘Robert Baxter Casting’ handled the actor & actress online submissions for the film. - On Feb. 5, casting director ‘Jo Edna Boldin’ sent out a call for girls to portray Portman’s daughter. - On Feb. 7, ‘Robert Baxter Casting’ sent out a call for male & female background extras needed as featured extra roles in a Nude or partially Nude 1860s ‘brothel scene.’ Since this is a western genre Native Americans should have submitted their actor & actress headshots to ‘Robert Baxter Casting’ Jan. 30. Even though there was no call for natives. Robert serves as the background extra casting for the TV show “Longmire” which will begin shooting their 2nd season Mar. 2013.
