For Friday, January 4th 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:
Extreme Couponing: Holiday Hauls (TLC, 8 p.m.) – Shoppers on the day after Christmas include a teenager who wants to buy presents for charity and a mother looking for a year’s worth of outfits for her kids.
Malibu Country (ABC, 8:30 p.m.) – "Push Comes to Shove" – When Reba learns that her kids’ school has dropped its music program, she tries to rally the music committee moms to revive it. Cash gets a reputation as a bully after he stands up to the most popular boy in school, and enjoys the popularity that his new "bad boy" persona brings. But when Reba goes toe to toe with the school principal, she gains the same reputation. Meanwhile Lillie (Lily Tomlin) takes part in a protest to keep her local pot dispensary up and running.
Blue Bloods (CBS, 10 p.m.) – "Fathers and Sons" – When two motorists driving gas-guzzling cars die at the hands of a sniper, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Kate (Megan Ketch) are put on the case of what the city believes is the work of a radical environmental serial killer. Meanwhile, a bicycle accident sends Danny’s son to the hospital with a life-threatening injury.
Portlandia (IFC, 10 p.m.) – “300” – It’s wintertime in Portland, and Peter (Fred Armisen) and Nance (Carrie Brownstein) struggle to keep the weight off by cutting out pasta. Meanwhile, Candace’s son (Bobby Moynihan) visits Women and Womyn First Bookstore.
Merlin (Syfy, 10 p.m.) – “Arthur’s Bane” – As the forces of fate cast a shadow over Camelot, Merlin (Colin Morgan) must confront his darkest fears. Camelot basks in the halcyon days of a new Golden Age. But even as she flowers, so the dark seeds of her destruction are being sown-- or in the frozen wastelands of the North, men are disappearing without trace. In search of answers, King Arthur (Bradley James) and his Knights must undertake a dangerous mission to the unknown. As the sun sets on the icy plains, Merlin finds himself locked in a battle unlike any he has fought before; a battle with Fate itself …
