For Wednesday, January 30th 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:
Arrow (The CW, 8 p.m.) – “Vertigo” – Thea (Willa Holland) is in trouble with the police after she gets caught using a drug called “Vertigo.” Oliver (Stephen Amell) thinks the only way to keep her out of jail is to find the dealer, a man who goes by the name of “The Count” (guest star Seth Gabel). Oliver turns to McKenna Hall (guest star Janina Gavankar), an old flame and current Vice cop, for help. Meanwhile, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) steps in to defend Thea, and Felicity (guest star Emily Bett Rickards) gives Oliver some disturbing news about Moira (Susanna Thompson).
Supernatural (The CW, 9 p.m.) – “As Time Goes By” – Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are stunned when a man who claims to be Henry Winchester (guest star Gil McKinney), their grandfather, suddenly appears in their hotel room demanding to know where he can find John Winchester. Henry has time-traveled to stop a demon named Abbadon (guest star Alaina Huffman) and was looking for John’s help. Through Henry, Sam and Dean learn more about their father and the Winchester blood line.
Suburgatory (ABC, 9:30 p.m.) – “Yakult Leader” – When Yakult becomes depressed, Dallas (Cheryl Hines) invites Yoni (guest star Wilmer Valderrama) back into their lives to help remove her negative energy. Everyone becomes enamored with Yoni except George (Jeremy Sisto), who believes Yoni really just wants Dallas back. Meanwhile the Shays convince Tessa (Jane Levy) to help set Lisa (Allie Grant) up so she can get back in the dating game. The girls end up on a double date with Ryan (Parker Young) and Tessa's ex, Scott Strauss (Thomas McDonnell).
Chicago Fire (NBC, 10 p.m.) – “Warm and Dead” – A troubled Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) goes to the police when a man dies in a hardware store fire set by Ernie (guest star Cody Sullivan), the troubled teenage firebug he’s been trying to help, and his Uncle Ray (guest star Darrell W. Cox). Meanwhile, Severide (Taylor Kinney) decides on his future and reaches out to his father (guest star Treat Williams). Elsewhere, Otis (Yuri Sardarov) finds camaraderie when he fills in for a few shifts at the slowest firehouse in the city, and makes a decision of his own, while Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Shay (Lauren German) find themselves in a bad predicament during a call to a tenement apartment.
Top Chef (Bravo, 10 p.m.) – “Chefs At Sea” – Chefs, ahoy! The chef’testants are setting sail for Alaska. While aboard, they’ll tackle a Quickfire of cruise ship proportions, elevating iceberg lettuce into a flavorful amuse bouche. For the Elimination Challenge, they must create a new spin on the cruise ship classic, Surf and Turf. The pressure is on to make the final four, and one chef’testant disembarks in a heartbreaking elimination. Guest judge Curtis Stone joins Hugh Acheson, head judge Tom Colicchio and host Padma Lakshmi.
