Jan 28 2013 What to watch: 'The Carrie Diaries', 'The Following', 'Dallas', etc

For Monday, January 28th 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:

The Carrie Diaries (The CW, 8 p.m.) – “Read Before Use” – After Tom (Matt Letscher) forbids Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) to see Sebastian (Austin Butler) again, Carrie snoops through Tom’s work files and uncovers some alarming information about Sebastian’s past. Carrie decides to confront Sebastian about what she’s discovered and is shocked by his reaction. Maggie (Katie Findlay) deals with her breakup with Walt (Brenden Dooling) in the only way she knows how and finds some solace from Dorrit (Stefania Owen). Meanwhile, Larissa (Freema Agyman) takes Carrie, Mouse (Ellen Wong) and Seth (special guest Kyle Harris) to an outrageous performance art club in New York City, which leaves them all feeling self-conscious.

Switched at Birth (ABC Family, 8 p.m.) – “Dressing for the Charade” – Looking to give Bay (Vanessa Marano) an opportunity to meet the mother of her soon-to-be-born half-sister, Toby invites Lana (guest star Annie Ilonzeh) to dinner at the Kennish house, which puts everyone on edge. Meanwhile, Daphne (Katie Leclerc) tries to help Travis (guest star Ryan Lane) with his problems at home.

The Following (FOX, 9 p.m.) – “Chapter Two” – Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon), Agent Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore) and FBI Specialist Debra Parker (Annie Parisse), who is brought in to lead the investigation into Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) and his followers, dive deeper into the history of Carroll’s psyche. To do so, they enlist the help of Carroll’s ex-wife, and Hardy’s former love, Claire Matthews (Natalie Zea). Meanwhile, Emma (Valorie Curry), Jacob (Nico Tortorella), and Paul (Adan Canto) keep Claire’s son Joey (Kyle Catlett) at a house in the country as they prepare for their next move.

Bunheads (ABC Family, 9 p.m.) – “The Astronaut and the Ballerina” Michelle’s (Sutton Foster) brother, Scotty (guest star Hunter Foster), comes for a visit after yet another failed marriage. Meanwhile, Melanie’s (Emma Dumont) new interest in roller derby leaves Ginny (Bailey Buntain) feeling abandoned, while Boo (Kaitlyn Jenkins) and her boyfriend are overwhelmed with child care duties.

Dallas (TNT, 9 p.m.) – "Battle Lines" – The second season premiere opens with Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe) and John Ross (Josh Henderson) still battling over Ewing Energies, but things heat up with John Ross hatches a scheme of revenge with Rebecca (Julie Gonzalo), and Harris (Mitch Pileggi) holds something over Ann (Brenda Strong).
