For Thursday, January 24th 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:
The Vampire Diaries (The CW, 8 p.m.) – “Catch Me If You Can” – Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is furious when Klaus (Joseph Morgan) tries to control him by putting Matt’s (Zach Roerig) life in danger. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) coaches Jeremy as he prepares to take on Klaus’ new vampires, but they find that Kol (guest star Nathaniel Buzolic) has beaten them to it. Kol makes it clear that he will stop at nothing to convince everyone to give up the search for the cure. Looking for a new ally, Rebekah (Claire Holt) reminds Stefan (Paul Wesley) that they were once close friends. When Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) and Mayor Hopkins (guest star Rick Worthy) question Shane (guest star David Alpay) about his involvement in the Founders’ Council deaths, Bonnie (Kat Graham) steps in with questions of her own, and Shane’s responses push Bonnie to the edge of her powers. Elena (Nina Dobrev) negotiates with Klaus to keep Jeremy safe, but when danger suddenly appears from a totally unexpected enemy, Elena comes up with her own daring plan for Jeremy.
30 Rock (NBC, 8 p.m.) – “A Goon’s Deed in a Weary World” – As she and Criss (guest star James Marsden) receive some unexpected family news, Liz (Tina Fey) tries to rally her staff to save TGS. Tracy (Tracy Morgan) and Jenna (Jane Krakowski) start to plan for their careers beyond the show, while Kenneth (Jack McBrayer) interferes with Jack's (Alec Baldwin) appointment of a new NBC president.
Parks and Recreation (NBC, 8:30 p.m.) – “Women in Garbage” – In order to get more women hired in government, Leslie (Amy Poehler) and April (Aubrey Plaza) handle a garbage route. Meanwhile, to help his growing business, Tom (Aziz Ansari) enlists the help of Andy (Chris Pratt) and Ben (Adam Scott) to teach him about basketball, and Ron (Nick Offerman) is left to watch Diane's (guest star Lucy Lawless) kids while their babysitter is out of town.
1600 Penn (NBC, 9:30 p.m.) – “Meet The Parent” – A determined President Gilchrist (Bill Pullman) uses his clout to track down someone that just might prove to be someone of major importance to the First Family. Meanwhile, the Gilchrist’s host the Austrian Chancellor (guest star David St. James) and his wife (guest star Rebecca Wysocki ), but when Emily (Jenna Elfman) questions proper protocol and tries to do things her own special way, she lands herself in quite a difficult situation. Elsewhere, Skip (Josh Gad) realizes his true calling in life.
Archer (FX, 10 p.m.) – “The Wind Cries Mary” – Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) hooks up with an old friend (guest voice Timothy Olyphant) after he’s the only one who believes the guy is innocent from stealing from ISIS and faking his own death. Together they must survive the wilderness, but the guy’s secret may be scarier to Archer.
