For Wednesday, January 23rd 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:
Arrow (The CW, 8 p.m.) – “Trust But Verify” – The next person on Arrow’s (Stephen Amell) list is Diggle’s (David Ramsey) commanding officer and mentor from Afghanistan, Ted Gaynor (guest star Ben Browder). Oliver suspects Ted is responsible for recent armored truck robberies, but Diggle defends Ted and takes a job at Ted’s security company to keep an eye on him. Oliver decides to make a move on Ted, which puts him at odds with Diggle. Meanwhile, Thea (Willa Holland) suspects that Moira (Susanna Thompson) is having an affair with Malcolm (guest star John Barrowman). Tommy (Colin Donnell) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) have an awkward dinner with Malcolm.
Supernatural (The CW, 9 p.m.) – “LARP and the Real Girl” – Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate the mysterious deaths of two LARPers (Live Action Role Playing) who were playing a game entitled Moondoor. The guys are thrilled to discover the Queen of Moondoor is none other than Charlie (guest star Felicia Day). The three learn that a fairy (guest star Tiffany Dupont) has been commandeered to harm people and the only way to stop her is to find her master.
Suburgatory (ABC, 9:30 p.m.) – “Chinese Chicken” – When Dallas (Cheryl Hines) goes overboard making flyers for George's (Jeremy Sisto) business, he begins to feel stifled and convinces Noah (Alan Tudyk) and Fred (Chris Parnell) to start a dad band as a way to escape their significant others. Sheila (Ana Gasteyer) catches the band during practice and impresses George with her singing, so he votes her into the band. Meanwhile Tessa (Jane Levy) discovers what it means to be a football player's girlfriend and incites a revolt.
Nashville (ABC, 10 p.m.) – “You Win Again” – Edgehill Records celebrates the success of "Wrong Song" with a lavish party attended by Rayna (Connie Britton), Juliette (Hayden Panettiere), and real-life country stars including Brantley Gilbert and Chris Young (who cameo as themselves). But the party gets awkward for Juliette, who brings her mom along, and for Rayna when she's aggressively pursued by Calista (Ming-Na Wen), an exec from a competing record label. Meanwhile Teddy (Eric Close) confronts Rayna about his suspicions over her relationship with her new producer; Gunnar (Sam Palladio) deals with family issues; and Avery (Jonathan Jackson) gets too comfortable with his newfound success.
American Horror Story: Asylum (FX, 10 p.m.) – “Madness Ends” – In the finale, Johnny (Dylan McDermott) races to complete his father’s work, while Lana (Sarah Paulson) struggles to shut down Briarcliff.
