From David Ayer, the writer of Training Day and director of Street Kings, comes the unforgettable, gritty police drama film End of Watch, which he wrote, directed and produced. Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña lead a talented cast that includes Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera, Cody Horn, Natalie Martinez and Frank Grillo.
Best friends Brian Taylor and Miguel Zavala are Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers who patrol South Central Los Angeles, risking their lives every day to serve and protect. Taylor films their activities as part of his documentary project showing the dangers that the LAPD face each day in the city’s most violent and gang-ridden areas -- from shootouts to rescuing children from a burning building. One day, a routine traffic stop entangles Taylor and Zavala with the notorious Mexican drug cartel. Further investigation lands them in the crossfire when a bust disrupts the cartel’s illegal activities. Seeking revenge, the cartel orders a hit on the two officers. Ambushed and caught in the line of fire, they bravely persevere and vow to have each other’s back as they continue to carry out their sworn duties, fighting to the last breath.
