Jan 21 2013, What to watch: 'The Carrie Diaries', 'The Following', 'Castle', etc

For Monday, January 21st 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:

The Carrie Diaries (The CW, 8 p.m.) – “Lie With Me” – New couple Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) and Sebastian (Austin Butler) can’t seem to catch a break. Between being grounded and rival Donna’s (Chloe Bridges) sneaky attempts to break them apart, Carrie worries Sebastian will lose interest in her. Desperate for some alone time with him, Carrie must lie to her father (Matt Letscher) and bail on plans with her sister Doritt (Stefania Owen). Maggie’s (Katie Findlay) obsession with having sex drives a wedge between her and Walt (Brenden Dooling). Meanwhile, Larissa (Freema Agyman) wants to do a photo shoot with Carrie’s purse for Interview magazine forcing Carrie to scramble to make it work.

Switched at Birth (ABC Family, 8 p.m.) – "Duel Between Two Women” – Bay (Vanessa Marano) finds herself on the wrong end of Natalie's (Stephanie Nogueras) wrath, forcing Melody (Marlee Matlin) to take everyone on a Tolerance Retreat to help bridge the divide between them.Meanwhile, Kathryn (Lea Thompson) possibly hurts John's (D.W. Moffett) campaign during a radio interview. Regina (Constance Marie) gets bad news about her health.

The Following (FOX, 9 p.m.) – “Pilot” – When Joe Carroll (James Purefory), a notorious serial killer, escapes from prison, the former FBI agent who captured him, Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon), is brought in to do so again. You can read our full advance review here.

Bunheads (ABC Family, 9 p.m.) – "I'll Be Your Meyer Lansky" –Michelle (Sutton Foster) and Fanny (Kelly Bishop) need to come up with money-and fast-to supplement the dance studio. Meanwhile, the girls continue to be mystified by the alluring new students, while Sasha (Julia Goldani Telles) deals with the decision to move from Paradise.

Castle (ABC, 10 p.m.) – “Death Gone Crazy” – When Beau Randolf (Jordan Belfi), the founder of hit adult video franchise "College Girls Gone Crazy," is murdered, Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) are confronted with a lengthy list of husbands, fathers and ex-college girls who all have motive. So to find the killer, they must delve deep into the victim's life, where they find surprises at every turn. Also in the episode, Alexis (Molly Quinn) starts a video blog, but Castle is not happy that personal and intimate details about her life are being made public.
