Jan 16 2013, What to watch: 'Arrow', 'Supernatural', 'AHS: Asylum', more

For Wednesday, January 16th 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:

Arrow (The CW, 8 p.m.) – “Burned” – Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) confidence is shaken after being beaten by the Dark Archer and he takes a break from being Arrow. However, when Laurel (Katie Cassidy) calls Arrow for help investigating a firefighter’s suspicious death, he reluctantly agrees but his hesitance while fighting almost costs him his life. Meanwhile, Tommy (Colin Donnell) throws a benefit for the firefighters and Thea (Willa Holland) tries to lift Moira (Susanna Thompson) out of her depressive state.

Supernatural (The CW, 9 p.m.) – “Torn and Frayed” – Naomi (guest star Amanda Tapping) tells Castiel (Misha Collins) that Crowley (guest star Mark Sheppard) is holding an angel captive and Castiel must rescue him before Crowley finds out their secrets. Castiel turns to Dean (Jensen Ackles) for help. Meanwhile, Sam (Jared Padalecki) meets with Amelia (guest star Liane Balaban) who asks him to make a choice: stay with her or leave and never contact her again.

Suburgatory (ABC, 9:30 p.m.) – "Junior Secretary's Day" – When Tessa (Jane Levy) has her wisdom teeth removed, George (Jeremy Sisto) struggles to manage both her recovery and the hysterics of their neighbor, Fred Shay (Chris Parnell), who has taken up residence in their basement after a career set-back. Sheila (Ana Gasteyer) suspects George of harboring rats, and Dallas (Cheryl Hines) feels insecure about her relationship with George.

Nashville (ABC, 10 p.m.) – "I'm Sorry for You, My Friend" – Rayna (Connie Britton) and Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) get ready to perform in San Diego in their first arena concert on the same bill. Rayna finds that working without Deacon (Charles Esten) is too disruptive and makes an interesting proposal to Liam (Michiel Huisman), while Juliette sends Sean (Tilky Montgomery Jones) a message through the press. Gunnar (Sam Palladio) takes a road trip to Austin to visit his brother, and Scarlett (Clare Bowen) tags along for the ride so she can catch Deacon's performance in Texas with the Revel Kings. Meanwhile Avery (Jonathan Jackson) makes his move to sign with Dominic, and Teddy (Eric Close) and Coleman's (Robert Ray Wisdom) campaigns find them in a dead heat.

American Horror Story: Asylum (FX, 10 p.m.) – “Continuum” – A deadly new inmate threatens Sister Jude’s (Jessica Lange) chance of release from Briarcliff. Grace’s (Lizzie Brochere) obsession with the aliens turns violent.
