Jamstain performed at The Roxy, on Feb. 2. The band is Ryan Gold on guitar, Aidan Hubbard on bass, Ainsley Hubbard on drums, Joe Costello on percussion, Shams the Fire Goddess as the dancer and Vince Bantasah as the human beat box.
Ainsley Hubbard had long hair, a five o’clock shadow, wore a green shirt and dress pants. Costello wore a hat, a black New York Jets hoodie, jeans and sneakers. Gold wore a plaid shirt, a Grateful Dead shirt, jeans and sneakers. Aidan Hubbard wore a black shirt with a graphic print on it and brown shoes. Bantasah wore a black jacket, green shirt, brown pants, and shoes.
Bantasah opened Jamstain’s show with his ability to be a beat box. If a listener had their eyes closed, they would have easily mistaken him for Rahzel. Costello removed his hat and jacket, at the start of the second song. Then, he used two different drumsticks. One was plain and the other looked like a crusted marshmallow, at the tip. As a band, Jamstain kept most of their performance an instrumental set. Once, Gold played his guitar with his mouth.
Shams the Fire Goddess appeared on stage. She wore a masquerade mask and danced for a bit. She removed her masked and continued to dance. Then, she removed her shirt and proceeded to dance. For the next song, She picked up two flags and twirled them around. One was red and the other was white and faded into green. They had handles on the end, for her fingers to grip.
Gold introduced Bantasah and explained how they met. Then, Bantasah performed a second time. This time, he had the band performing with him. The drums drowned out his sounds.
For the next song, Jamstain brought out a singer. She was dressed in all black and wore combat boots. Shams the Fire Goddesss appeared on the stage again, shortly after. She danced as the singer sang. As she danced, she danced with fire and performed a Kata with her Sais. During this performance, she had the appearance of the Mortal Kombat series. She looked like she could be related to Nightwolf, controlled fire like Liu Kang and Scorpion, had the Sais of Mileena but there was no fatalities.
As the next song played, a voice message was heard through the speakers. Then, Jamstain told the audience where their next performance would be.
