Trayvon Martin’s death was remembered by the Miami, Fl. Community on Saturday, Feb. 9, with a march, “I am Trayvon Day of Remembrance Community Peace Walk, ” according to BCNN1, Feb. 10, 2013. The event was sponsored by the Trayvon Martin Foundation.
Actor, Jamie Foxx and Dr. Jamal Harrison-Bryant were on hand to remember the 17-years-old’s death when he was murdered on February 26, 2012. Trayvon was shot and killed in Sanford by George Zimmerman a community watch guard.
Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton said that the march will take place annually. The march consisted of praying, walking, and inspirational speaking.
The purpose of the march was an effort to bring about justice for the Martin family and bring awareness to teens that they can take a walk, purchase a drink and return home in their neighborhood without being racially profiled, as was Trayvon.
Jamie Foxx wore a red T-shirt with a picture of Trayvon Martin’s face on the front. Foxx says he is a father, and this event touches him and he couldn’t miss being involved.
