According to Entertainment Weekly on Friday, EL James, author of 50 Shades of Grey, has confirmed the role of Christian Grey to be Jamie Dornan's.
Jamie Dornan, an Irish actor and underwear model, has been selected as the new choice for the male lead in the movie adaptation of the erotic BDSM novel, 50 Shades of Grey.
The Fifty Shades trilogy was developed from a Twilight fan fiction series originally titled Master of the Universe and published episodically on fan-fiction websites under the pen name "Snowqueen's Icedragon". The piece featured characters named after Stephenie Meyer's characters in Twilight, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. After comments concerning the sexual nature of the material, James removed the story from the fan-fiction websites and published it on her own website, FiftyShades.com.
Dornan, 31, known for his work as a Calvin Klein pinup and for the ABC television series “Once Upon a Time,” fills the role of billionaire Christian Grey. The studio’s first choice for the role, Charlie Hunnam, got cold feet and left the production with reasoning that he was too busy with his television series, Sons of Anarchy.
True Blood actor Luke Grimes has been cast as Elliot Grey, the brother of Christian Grey. He joins Dornan and Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele. Dakota Johnson’s Anastasia will hopefully steady director Sam Taylor-Johnson’s production that is slated to begin shooting mid-November.
“I’m a monstrous @JamieDornan1 fan. Wasn’t allowed to be attracted to him on The Fall bc he played a sexmurderer. 50 Shades is my big chance!” Lena Dunham tweeted. “Wait, Christian Grey isn’t a murderer right?”
