Jamie Deen, oldest son of Paula Deen, has just published his first solo cookbook, Jamie Deen’s Good Food: Cooking Up a Storm with Delicious, Family-Friendly Recipes. Within the pages of this book, you’ll find healthy, delicious recipes that the whole family will enjoy making and eating together.
The chapter titles are thought provoking. Titles like, Oodles and Oodles, By Land/Hobo Dinners and Pick a Side. Jamie has sub-sections like Get in my Pantry, and Can’t Put Your Finger On It. The Forward section was written by Paula Deen. and funny chapter titles. He included family pictures of his wife, Brooke and their two boys Jack and Matthew.Photos of his mother Paula, brother Bobbie, and Uncle Bubba. You’ll read the inside scoop about his home city of Savannah, Ga. and the surrounding countryside.
However, this book has a special section at the end. It is a chapter that Jamie is very proud to include. The chapter is called Rooster’s Café. This is where his six-year-old son, Jack, added his favorite recipes. Coming from a long line of professional cooks, it is only natural that his son is following in his father's footsteps. It is Jamie’s desire to encourage young people to take an interest in cooking healthy recipes. This is the time when children's minds can be molded to love healthy food instead of junk food.
Jamie usually co-authors other books with his family members, but this is the first book written on his own. Jamie Deen's Good Food: Cooking Up a Storm with Delicious, Family-Friendly Recipes has 125 recipes.
Jamie has strong family ties. To him, there is nothing more important then family. Jamie said that when you build relationships through food, it will stand through the test of time. What makes this book slightly different than most is the extra information that accompanies each recipe, Jamie tells you how to dress it up for adults, or make it more kid friendly. He's put in tips and ideas on different ways to use any left-overs.
