Olympian Jamie Anderson brought home the gold for the debuted sport of Olympic Slopestyle. The competition gave the world a chance to see some amazing tricks done on a snowboard at the Winter Games and all the competitors got some serious air. While the globe got an education on Slopestyle, Jamie Anderson stepped out in front to win the gold for Team USA. According to USA Today on Sunday, the process of qualifying for the Olympics was a grueling process for Anderson but even so she was considered a favorite of the competition.
“Only with the love and support from the most amazing family, friends, community and sponsors! So much gratitude,” tweeted Jamie Anderson from her official Twitter account on Sunday. The athlete definitely was excited about her win.
There were other medal contenders for the competition as well. Jenny Jones became Britain's first ever Olympic medalist on snow by winning bronze and Enni Rukajarvi silver. The overall standings of the sport are impressive, but what might be more impressive is the air these woman found when they took on the course in Sochi. Fearlessly facing a course that could have taken them face down the mountain, the athletes made the ride look effortless.
