The nation celebrated the reelection of President Obama during today’s inaugural festivities. The events were broadcast on several news starting at seven in the morning on Good Morning America. The swearing in ceremony was of course focused on the President’s oath and speech as well as the speeches shared by the invited speakers, but the event was accented by musical performances as well. The inaugural ceremony featured appearances by James Taylor who performed a stirring acoustic rendition of “America the Beautiful” on guitar, Kelly Clarkson beautifully performing “My Country Tis of Thee” and Beyoncé who sang the National Anthem; Clarkson and Beyoncé were both accompanied by the President’s own Marine Corps Band. Clarkson's performance can be seen on this page, inks to view all three performances are listed below.
This year, the number of inaugural balls has been cut from the ten held in 2009 to just two this year. The balls will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center tonight and are said to be featuring several artists including Alicia Keys, Far East Movement, F.U.N, Brad Paisley, John Legend, Katy Perry, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and more.
