James Otto, Brantley Gilbert headline Thanksgiving weekend at Atlanta country bars

Brantley Gilbert and James Otto top the Holiday action this weekend at Atlanta area country bars, nightclubs and honky tonks.

Gilbert, a native of Jefferson, Georgia, performs at Wild Bill’s on Friday (11/27). He continues to tour supporting his first CD, “A Modern Day Prodigal Son.” He’s well known for a number of local favorites, including “G.R.I.T.S.”, “Dirt Road Anthem” and “My Kinda Party.” Tickets start at $14.

Otto – who charted his first #1 hit in 2007 with “Just Got Started Lovin’ You” -- performs at Cowboys in Kennesaw on Saturday (11/28). His self-titled third CD is due in 2010; the first single was “Since You Brought It Up.” And yes, you did see Otto on the CMA awards last week – he co-wrote the CMA Song of the Year, “In Color,” with Jamey Johnson. Tickets start at $10.

And if you need a little “twang” to get your holiday started, check out Cowboy’s traditional pre-Thanksgiving party on Wednesday (11/25).

Also this weekend you’ll find:

• Nashville singer/songwriters Leslie Satchez and James Slater at the Swallow at the Hollow on Friday and Saturday nights. Sanchez co-wrote George Strait’s recent hit, “Troubadour.” The shows begin at 10 p.m.; tickets are $15 for each show.

• Local bands and weekend fun at Wild West Bar and Grill in Holly Springs and Ozone Bar & Grill in Covington.
