After a successful first run of great free music in the great outdoors, Musicians Corner is back this year with another full lineup. The weekly series kicked off a few weeks ago, and will continue through July 2nd. The concerts are held at Centennial Park.
This week’s show features Jon Troast, Erika Chambers, Carey Ott, Derek Webb, Sandra McCracken, The Delta Saints, and headliner James Otto.
James Otto hails from the state of Washington, and served in the US Navy before moving to Nashville to pursue his musical dreams. He released one album for Mercury Records, called Days of Our Lives.
Otto started gaining more fans while playing weekly shows with the Muzik Mafia in Nashville. Singing with friends like Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson put Otto in front of bigger audiences, who were always blown away by his powerhouse vocals. He eventually inked a new deal with Warner Brothers Records, and released 2 albums with that label – 2008’s Sunset Man and 2010’s Shake What God Gave Ya.
The first single from Sunset Man, Just Got Started Loving You, was named Billboard’s Number One country single of 2008. James Otto also co-wrote Jamey Johnson’s In Color, released that same year. In Color won Song of the Year awards at the CMA’s and the ACM’s, and its writers were also nominated for a Grammy.
Most recently, James Otto and some of his band members toured Iraq and Kuwait for the USO.
