James Holmes objects to expanded media coverage leading to arraignment

In a motion (pdf) just released, alleged theater shooter James Holmes' defense objects to requests by Channel 9 News and others for expanded media coverage. The defense claims that expanded media coverage even during the arraignment would hurt James Holmes' right to a fair trial. They also expect numerous motions and pre trial hearings to occur during the time period before the arraignment. The defense has already caused one those hearings to be pushed back to April 1, 2013 because they failed to check the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus released emails and realize that Jana Winter had provided her cell phone number. The defense wasted time trying to contact Jana Winter by the main Fox number. Resolving an issue of prosecutorial misconduct before a plea or a possible deal could be paramount in the defense of James Holmes especially if used to take the death penalty off the table.
