One of James Hartline Ministry's recent victories was the closing of B. Dalton Books in Horton Plaza on January 16th, 2010. This location had Playboy magazines in an area where anyone could access them, including children. When James brought this to the manager's attention she "was extremely hostile to our concerns."
James then took up the issue with Horton Plaza's management. "When I discussed our opposition to Playboy in Dalton, she responded "They have a free speech right to have their reading material out in the open." I retorted that the Lord would hold her responsible for the harming of kids. She responded, "Blessed Be!" ... a phrase used by witches and pagans."
Yes God is using this man who had a serious mental illness, an intervenous drug problem, a viral infection, AIDS, and was incarcerated for 19 years. "James should be dead .... but the living God wrote a different ending to the script of his life."

Those are strong words. Some may be looking to lynch you for this. It is a fascinating article. It would be interesting to learn, from Mr. Hartline himself, what that journey has been like. What drove him to "homosexuality" and then away from it after 30 years?

I've been hearing about this Hartline guy - from gays who blog, mainly. Boy oh boy do they hate him! Never in my life have I seen such venom and vitriol.
But he is hardly alone. The fact that people decide to leave "gay" behind and return to a normal life may be something the gay community fights tooth and nail to keep secret, but that does not stop people from becomming "ex-gays".

If anyone were interested in factual evaluation of this disturbed jerk Hartline he'd need a rather extensive medical and psychiatric work up. Who knows whether he ever was really homosexual, bisexual, psychotic, had endogenous chemical changes (would be interesting) or is, as someone I know, just exploiting the religious community for all its worth as a con man. Confess your "sins" and be supported by religious loonies forever.
His paranoid homophobia probably indicates he still is at least bisexual, as many who are supposedly "converted" are.
Sexual preferences is a matter of wishes. If you have strong wishes in one direction, no amount of external influence is going to change it. Its biological. There are many in the middle who don't have a strong preference. They make all the news.
