According to James Gunn's Facebook page on Friday, it looks like the director of "Guardians of the Galaxy" released a short movie teaser for his full trailer scheduled to be released on Monday. Gunn has worked diligently on this film for quite a while and also keeping up with the hype by prominently promoting the project whenever he can.
The film stars "Parks and Recreation's" Chris Pratt who plays the lead hero Star-Lord. The character is cocky, charming, and is nostalgic of his home planet as he is passionate about his modern songs such as Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling." As seen in the first trailer, he gets into a "shocking" altercation with a galactic prison guard who seems to enjoy listening to Peter Quill's choice of song.
It has also been recently published that Marvel's Stan Lee is to be making a cameo appearance as a Xandarian citizen in Gunn's film. Though Lee isn't the creator of the comic book, he did create the Groot character as voiced by actor Vin Diesel. "Doctor Who's" Karen Gillan faces off with Zoe Saldana as well known assassin Gamora faces off with Nebula. The both seemed to be equally matched, but Gillan seems to acknowledge her lack of hair makes things appear less than graceful than her cohort Saldana in slow motion sequences.
At first, Gunn didn't want to even give Pratt a try, given he considered him to be that "chubby guy" from NBC's "Parks and Recreation." But now, after having given the lead actor a shot, Gunn felt it was well worth the time invested. Also, Chris has indeed gotten in great shape for the role as seen by his abs in the first trailer.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" opens in theaters come Aug. 1 and the second trailer is scheduled to debut on May 19.
