Coach with Character Vanderbilt’s James Franklin
From the book on James is this quote “I'm trying to fight for the respect of our program. So it's really not about anybody else's colors. It's about me demanding respect. That's it.
Chap Oscar how in the world can you tell so much about a person in a few minutes? The real secret is that a person’s ethical values guide their choices. The standards of conduct that arise out of those values constitute the only ground rules that I have learned from over 50 years of watching people closely. Number one is ethics and ethical decision-making. We hugged today at a chance meet off campus and I promised Coach Franklin that I would put my props to his character in writing. We live in a fractured society. The need today is to communicate with core values and trust me what “we are” speaks louder than words. Chap Oscar is not a big sports buff but my finding are that in just a few years Vanderbilt Head Coach James Franklin has already taken the Commodores to heights not seen in decades, while at the same time helped to change the culture of Vanderbilt’s football program. His passion for Vanderbilt and more importantly it is his stellar character that is on full display. So Coach Franklin here are the Chap Oscar Character Traits that places you on the top of my list.
Trustworthiness, honesty, reliability, you have the courage to do the right thing and you are loyal.
Aretha was right R-E-S-P-E-C-T goes a long way. From my perspective you have a way of treating others with respect, you are a man who is tolerant of differences.
Responsibility, Perseverance and Self-Discipline makes everyone around you proud. I loved your expression of gratitude you showed me today. Vanderbilt became a big winner when they chose you as a Coach!
You have landed Chap Oscar as a loyal part of your fan base. May this season be the strongest season ever for the Commodores.
