James Franco loses 3 ad campaigns for being gay in films

James Franco claims that he lost three advertising campaign projects for the films he promoted at Sundance Film Festival. He did not specify which companies that turned him down, but he is convinced it is related to the gay theme of the movies. The excuse the companies gave him was they did not like his image. James Franco said he believes there is still, “A homophobia or prejudice against certain kinds of material in mainstream cinema.”

The three projects that he promoted at Sundance Film Festival are: “Interior. Leather Bar,” “Spring Breakers,” and “Kink.” The first movie is about a gay leather bar. The second movie is about James Franco playing a thug who had oral sex with a pistol. The third movie is about a porn website located in San Francisco’s armory building.

According to Business Insider’s article today, James Franco has done advertising work for Gucci, Samsung and 7ForAllMankindJeans. From his statement at Sundance Film Festival, he did not specify whether these unnamed companies are with past, current or potential projects.

What do you think about James Franco acting in gay theme movies? Would this change your opinion about a product or brand if he was promoting it?
