Walt Disney Pictures is putting together a new film that is sure to have great appeal. Given its past success, L. Frank Baum's wonderful world of Oz is set to be reimagined, yet again, in a film entitled, 'Oz the Great and Powerful!' This film is planned as a PREQUEL to the film, 'The Wizard of Oz' from 1939.
James Franco is set to play The Wizard himself in this new Sam Raimi project. And Mila Kunis will be playing the part of a witch named Theodora. Theodora is mentioned as being the actual name of The Wicked Witch of the West in the 1939 film despite Gregory Maguire's name, Elphaba, that is used in the currently popular Wicked series that is also based on L Frank Baum's world of Oz.
The film is not set to be out until 2013 and there is no news yet as to who else might possibly be cast in the film. But since this is a Sam Raimi project, i am sure the hype will just keep building from now until the film's final release.
