James Cotton at the BJW tonight

Tonight at Le Corusse Rouge, the Bakersfield Jazz Workshop is presenting a special concert by a dear friend of the BJW's CEO Steve Eisen. All the way from Washington, D.C., tenor saxophonist James Cotton will be giving a special concert featuring tunes from his CD, “The James Cotton Quartet.”

Not to be confused with that OTHER James Cotton, the famous Mississippi blues harmonica player, this James Cotton is a jazz musician all the way. So if you want to see James Cotton the sax player, the BJW is the place to be tonight!

The format for the workshop this week is:

6:30 PM -  7:30 PM – Beginning Jazz Improv Class

7:30 PM – 8:30 PM – Featured Artist

8:30 PM – 10:00 PM – Open/Intermediate Jam Session

Be sure to bring your own Fake / Real book, charts in your own keys, and music stand and sign up at the front desk if you want to participate in the jam session. Just write your name, your instrument (or that you are a vocalist), and what tune(s) you want to play. For those interested in the Beginning Jazz Improv class, get there a little early and discuss your interest with one of the BJW’s instructors, who will be happy to answer your questions and sign you up. Remember – it’s free!
