Democrat James Anderson Makes Outrageous Claim that Alabamians can not be both Christian and Republican
The Cherokee County Herald reports that Democrat nominee for Attorney General James Anderson questioned the faith of all Republicans during a recent luncheon in Centre. The paper quotes the holier-than-thou Anderson’s claim that you can not be a Christian and be a Republican:
“Well I don't know how you can say you are a Christian and be a Republican."(Cherokee Herald 9/27, full article found HERE)
Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party blasted Anderson’s assertion as ignorance, arrogance and just one more reason James Anderson is wrong for Alabama.
“To be frank, James Anderson may be an attorney, but he is certainly not the judge and jury of who is and who is not a Christian in Alabama,” said Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party. “Alabamians hold their individual faith dear and James Anderson has stooped to a new low to question the Christianity of all those who vote Republican.”
“This is one of those instances where you truly get a glimpse of someone’s character, and Democrat James Anderson has proven himself unworthy of representing the people of Alabama,” Hubbard added. “The people of Alabama deserve to have their elected officials defending them and protecting them, not making asinine statements that their choice in political party reveals whether or not they are Christians.”
“I’m sure James will back peddle and spin when confronted with his belief that Republicans aren’t Christians,” Hubbard concluded. “But the fact of the matter is that this is one of those rare times when you get an unscripted look into who a man really is, and the real James Anderson is judgmental, arrogant and wrong for Alabama.”
