On the strength of three Bakersfield Jam (18-9) players scoring double-doubles, the Jam came back from a double-digit deficit to defeat the Austin Toros (14-11) in a 115-109 home victory Friday night at the Dignity Health Events Center.
The Toros led by as many as 14 points in the second quarter but a late Jam run cut it down to 61-54 at halftime. Austin shot 57% while knocking down 5-of-9 three-pointers. The Jam managed to turn the tables in the second half, as they shot 54% compared to the Toros 39%, while outscoring them 61-48.
For the game, Bakersfield out-rebounded Austin 47-40 and committed a season-low seven turnovers.
Leading the way for Bakersfield was Brian Butch, who finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Damion James (23 points, 13 rebounds), and Jerel McNeal (21 points, 10 assists) also joined the double-double parade, with Renaldo Major contributing 12 points.
Aron Baynes led the Toros whith a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Roberts 17, Cory Joseph 16, and Tre Kelly 13 (off the bench) rounded out the Austin scoring leaders.
