Jake Locker injury update news came in from the Tennessee Titans Monday morning (Sept. 30). While the news was expected to be bad, Locker might return to the Titans before the end of the regular season. According to a report from ESPN, the quarterback has an injured hip but initial x-rays have come back negative. This could at least mean that there is not a fracture, break, or tear that would require long-term surgery recovery.
He went down in the third quarter after a hit by New York Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson. There has been some controversy about the hit, including whether it was late. No penalty was issued on the play, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the NFL won't come in later with a fine. Due to the Titans losing their starting quarterback, the league is definitely going to be reviewing the tape.
This is an unfortunate turn of events for fans of the Tennessee Titans and fantasy football owners that had seen him putting up good numbers. Before the Jake Locker injury on Sunday, he had thrown for 149 yards and three touchdowns, giving him some very nice fantasy stats. The team has also won two straight games, keeping them in contention in the division. Now fantasy owners will have to look somewhere else to provide the numbers he put up in Week 4.
