Jada Pinkett Smith is about to showcase her devious side. According to a report by E! Online on Feb. 19, Smith is joining the cast of the Fox series “Gotham” as villainess Fish Mooney.

The series, which has already been ordered by the network, chronicles the beginning of Batman’s rogues gallery. The cast already consists of “Southland” star Ben McKenzie who will play James Gordon, who eventually becomes the commissioner of the Gotham City police. Donal Logue, Robin Lord Taylor, Sean Pertwee, Zabryna Guevara and Erin Richards have also nailed down roles in the new series.

Jada Pinkett Smith’s character will be a character Batman fans will be introduced to for the first time. She is described as hothead, sadistic “gangster boss” with street smarts. She owns one of Gotham’s hottest nightclubs. Her ability to read people is her greatest attribute, which will make for an interesting character for Smith to play.

Fish Mooney is also the boss of a young psycho named Oswald Cobblepot played by Taylor, who eventually becomes The Penguin.

Jada Pinkett Smith’s new character will definitely be a contrast to the character she played in her last TV series, “HawthoRNe.”

The prequel series has no scheduled start date.
