Jacyee Lee Dugard Story new information update

CNN’s HLN aired a story tonight with a panel of people discussing the Jaycee Lee Dugard kidnapping.  The panel included 2 psychologists, Dr. Reef Kareem and Michael Silverman, and a criminal defense attorney, Michael Cardoza.

The Cardoza stated that for the first 3 1/2 years after Jaycee Dugard was kidnapped she wasn’t allowed out, and was kept in hiding.  The panel stated that they could speculate about what happened to her during that time.  During this time, Phillip Garrido changed Jaycee Dugard’s name to Alyssa.  During this time, Jaycee Dugard also became pregnant with her first child.

Dr. Reef Kareem said that any small amount of kindness that the kidnapper has toward the victim is viewed by the victim as a big deal and helps to build a bond between the two.

Over the years, Michael Cardoza said that Jaycee Dugard did teach her daughters, Angel and Starlett to read and write, and he said that it won’t take them long to catch up in school.

Yesterday, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s department raided 3 properties owned by Phillip Garrido’s business associates, according to ABC News.   Looking for photos, videos, DVDs, computers…anything that looked like it was homemade, said Chevonne Molino’s home was searched.  The ABC News video shows a photo of the what is believed to be Jaycee Dugard's two daughters from behind.

Jaycee Dugard is an extreme case of someone coming from isolation and returning to the real world, Elizabeth Smart is another one of those cases.  Elizabeth Smart from Utah was kidnapped and kept with her capturers for approximately a year.  Elizabeth Smarts' mother has stated that you can forgive a situation like this, but you will never forget.  And Elizabeth Smart was gone for about a year; Jaycee Dugard was missing for 18 years.

According to a recent story from CNN, "She's going to have a lot of mixed feelings about returning to her family of origin because she's spent almost two decades with a different family," said Margo Napoletano, a child and family psychologist in San Diego, California.

It's a concept that explains why a kidnapped victim would stay with a perpetrator even though they had an opportunity to leave," she said. "They opt to stay because it's their comfort zone."

Phillip and Nancy Garrido are scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on September 14, 2009.

jaycee should fight back, i don't doubt that, but against such an experienced
sex criminal, i think, is too high an expection for her. should she partly be responsible
for her bad choice? yes, but this is not the key point in this case, at least in the first place.

    a good reading, thank you.

If Garrido's co-worker thinks that because the children were clean the living conditions were not as bad as we would think, she's just as twisted as he is. Are clean clothes and sexual abuse good living conditions?

You Can do all the guessing about what was going on but one thing is sure Jaycee did the right thing becouse she is alive where other kidnaped children don't make it. she can now look to a future I hope is filled with the love from her family.
