Jacqui Holland in the Making of a Movie Mogul

I know absolutely God is a man because he has kindly and so abundantly populated our planet with beautiful women. But even within the group of beauties there are some, a very few to be truthful, who cause all men and probably most women who see them to gasp and say simply “WOW!”

So it was just a few days ago when I walked into the Good Earth Restaurant on Ventura Boulevard to meet old friend Ellis Martin and for the first time Ron Curtiss and Jacqui Holland. I saw Jacqui and my personal “WOW” meter flew off the scale. YES she is a beautiful young woman. But here is the real hook; Jacqui Holland I quickly learned is also genuinely charming, blessed with humor and brilliant. The odds of finding a truly beautiful woman who is also charming, funny and brilliant is about as likely as finding a politician who speaks only the truth. Yet there she was – Jacqui Holland.

This lovely Cincinnati born lady had her first acting gig in a community theatre at age 8. While still in college she got her first film acting job which took her not to Hollywood but to Miami, Florida to film a horror picture. After that experience and after college she came to Hollywood in pursuit fame and fortune in the film industry. Except for the wisdom of going to college first, I admit that this is not a very original theme so far. But as the infomercial folks love to say, “but wait there is more.”

She has made several appearances on television including Beverlywood as Jerricha and Totally Sketch as Jenny McCarthy. Her film credits are abundant and growing rapidly. Her most exciting role to date was playing opposite Academy Award nominee Kate Hudson in My Best Friend’s Girl. Jacqui also has four movies in post production and she is scheduled to go to camera on at least four films next year. So while she may not yet be quite at the super star level Jacqui Holland has clearly achieved the status of a true working actress and she is onboard the success express. And as is befitting a brilliant person she has dreams and ambitions beyond acting which is what brought me together with her and Ellis Martin and Ron Curtiss in the first place.

We had assembled to discuss with Jacqui her vision for a new feature film. We were all properly sworn to secrecy so telling you about this project is a real challenge, it deserves the effort. Let’s see, I can mention that it is a science fiction comedy. It will star Jacqui Holland and another very young super talent Kari Irwin. Jacqui is committed to “attaching” as they say at least one major name to give the project the punch and recognition it deserves. Jacqui is confident that she can make the film for under a million dollars, which in Hollywood speak makes it a very low budget film. Jacqui believes that it can actually achieve theatrical release in America and possibly worldwide. If she is right it will make her a very wealthy woman. She knows the odds are against her but she is driven, yet another example of her real charm.

One way or another this, as of now, secret project of Jacqui Holland’s will I am certain be a huge success. The outline she disclosed at our meeting is utterly saturated with humor. There remains much work to be done but Jacqui Holland will get it done. When that happens she will have added film producer to her credits and she will be at the next exciting phase of her career development. This is really going to be fun.
