With the victory, Jacobs has guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals. He can still be tied in the standings with Great Britain's David Murdoch and Norway's Thomas Ulsrud, but if Great Britain and Norway are tied with Jacobs for fourth, then Great Britain will play Norway in a tie-breaker because Jacobs beat Murdoch and Ulsrud in the round robin.
It was not a perfect game for team Canada because they fell behind the United States on two occasions, but the Jacobs team showed great resiliency and rebounded extremely well. Down 6-5 in the ninth end, Jacobs delivered an excellent draw to record his two points to take a 7-6 lead. Then in the tenth end, team Canada stole a point when Jacobs recorded a perfect freeze and then a draw to the four foot.
Team Canada will close out their round robin schedule Sunday morning against China (8:00 a.m., TSN2).
