Jacobs advances to the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials final

According to TSN on Thursday, Brad Jacobs of Sault. Ste. Marie, Ontario has advanced to the final of the 2013 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Winnipeg.

Jacobs delivered an outstanding runback to score two points in the tenth end on Thursday to defeat Kevin Martin of Edmonton by a score of 5-4. With the victory, Jacobs remains undefeated at 6-0 and is only one victory away from advancing to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Martin, who dropped to 5-1, will play in the semi-final against either John Morris of Kelowna, British Columbia (4-2) or Mike McEwen of Winnipeg, Manitoba (3-3). Morris plays Martin and McEwen plays Kevin Koe of Calgary in the final round robin draw on Friday morning.

On the women's side, Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg is in the final. She is awaiting the winner of the semi-final on Friday. However first Sherry Middaugh of Coldwater, Ontario will play Chelsea Carey of Winnipeg in a tie-breaker Friday afternoon with the winner playing defending Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion Rachel Homan of Ottawa in the semi-final Friday night.

Carey, Middaugh and Homan finished with identical 4-3 records. The three teams beat each other by one point. Homan got the tie-breaker because she had the best record in draws to the button, that were decided before every draw.
