Jacksonville's Veteran's Day parade

What better way to honor our veterans than having a parade in their honor. Thursday, November 11th is Veterans Day and Jacksonville will be hosting its 15th annual Veteran’s Day parade beginning at 11:01 a.m.

The many individuals, groups and organizations participating in the parade feature senior military officials, active-duty military and retired military units. There will be veterans groups, JROTC units, local high school marching bands and various organizations. Adding color to the festivities, there will be decorative floats and giant balloons along the route.

If you’d like the chance to ride on a float to honor our veterans you can enter the contest at the Make a Scene Downtown Facebook site and answer the question, “What does Jacksonville’s military mean to you?”

Beginning on Water Street at Pearl Street near the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts, the parade will make a left turn left on Newnan Street and then right on Bay Street. It will continue on Bay Street to Gator Bowl Boulevard and it will end in front of Everbank Field.
