Jacksonville restaurant news: April 2014 Easter events

See also

Each month, we try to update our readers on restaurants events going on in and around Jacksonville. With spring in the air and Easter nearly here, we have plenty of events to write about. This month, Jacksonville favorites like Cantina Laredo, Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, and Aqua Grill are featuring special menus and offers. The following is a list of Jacksonville restaurant events for April 2014:

  • Easter Brunch @ Cantina Laredo: We like Cantina Laredo because its upscale Mexican dishes like tableside guacamole, enchiladas veracruz, and the Mexican apple pie, which is served tableside on a sizzling skillet (for our Tastes of Jacksonville article on Cantina Laredo, see this link). Diners in the mood for a Mexican Easter Brunch can visit Cantina Laredo on Sunday 4/18/14. Kids eat free when adults purchase an entree and adults get a complementary Mimosa or Bloody Mary with brunch until 3pm. It appears that diners must show an email from the Cantina Laredo E-club (sign up here) to get the free drink and kids meal. Kids 12 and under who order from the Smaller Kids menu are limited to a $5.79 value and one kids meal for each adult entree.
  • Easter Brunch @ Roy's: At Roy's we recommend the Lakanilau Roll, andouille crusted fish, and the chocolate souffle. Roy's is offering a two-course brunch for Easter for $33.95 per person. This brunch offers a unique menu item called the Roy's Benedict. This creative eggs benedict offers diners the choice of filet mignon or crab cakes on a cheddar bacon biscuit and topped with a shiso bearnaise sauce. There is a also a "Keiki" menu available for kids for $12.95. Lastly, diners will receive a $20 Dining Card for the next visit to Roy's (Dining card is valid 4/21/14-5/31/14). Make reservations online at this link for the Jacksonville Beach Roy's location.
  • Easter Sunday @ Aqua Grill: Restaurants don't stay in business for 26 years for no reason and Aqua Grill is one of the few that can boast this feat. We wrote an extensive article reviewing Aqua Grill, which can be found at this link. The restaurant features large portions of upscale food items like fried green tomatoes ($9), Grilled Filet Mignon, and Crispy Red Snapper "Bangkok". The key lime pie is also quite good. For Easter, Aqua Grill is offering lunch from 11:30-4pm. For reservations call 904-285-3017. The special Easter menu includes Fried Clam Strips Giovanni (with garlic scampi butter, soy, roasted peppers, and scallions for $12), Rum Raisin Glazed Ham (served with pancetta/scallion whipped potatoes and Southern cooked greens for $17), and Pork Osso Bucco (with Vidalia-pancetta jus, whipped potatoes, and Jardinere vegetables for $24).
