With the Fourth of July just around the corner, some restaurants in Jacksonville are closing their doors, while others are featuring events that you won't want to miss. We believe that a big part of our job at Jacksonville Fine Dining Examiner is to inform our readers about great events at local restaurants. Most months, we post a rundown of local events, so consider us your source for Jacksonville restaurant information! In July, one of the most significant restaurant events is the 6th annual 4th of July Backyard Bash at Restaurant Orsay. Another one of our favorite local restaurants, Taverna, is featuring a Fourth of July event. Both Orsay and Taverna are teaming with Intuition Ale who will provide craft beer for the events. Here are the details we know at this time:
Event #1: 6th Annual 4th of July Backyard Bash @ Restaurant Orsay located at 3630 Park St., Jacksonville, FL 32205: Orsay is known for its great events for New Year's Eve and Fourth of July. They have an excellent facility to host the event with a large dining room up front and bar and patio area in the back of the restaurant. We've written multiple articles about Orsay and the restaurant has been featured in several Jacksonville Fine Dining Examiner series, such as Jax's Best Dishes and Culinary Competition. On a normal night, we recommend the plat du fromage, seak frites, and homemade s'mores. On July 4th, we see a lot of things that look great. Here's the menu for the July 4th event:
- Popcorn with melted foie gras and truffle oil powder
- Slow smoked pork shoulder with spoonbread and jalapeno butter
- Mini grass-fed beef burgers served with potato salad and sweet pickles made in-house
- Charred Corn and lobster hush-puppies served with spicy remoulade
- Hot dogs poached with Jon Boat ale with cubanelle pepper chow chow
- Cupcakes made in-house, apple pie empanadas, mini ice cream cones
The event also features a petting zoo, bounch house, beer from Intuition Ale works, and vodka provided by Tito's Handcrafted Vodka, who is sponsoring the event. The Backyard Bash supports Riverside Avondale Preservation. Shawn Lightfoot will provide live music with his band. Tickets are $30, which according to Orsay, will entitle you to "Have Your Fill of Food." Fourth of July cocktails are $5 and Intuition Ale Works cans are $3. The event is free for kids under 10 years old and valid ID is required for patrons. The event begins at 1pm and ends at 6pm. Tickets are available at Eventbrite at this link or you can order on the phone at 903-381-0909.
Event #2: Fourth of July celebration at Taverna San Marco: Taverna is a prime example of a local Jacksonville restaurant. They serve European cuisine featuring Italian items like meatballs and other delicious options. Taverna is offering a $12 plus Intuition beer special on Fourth of July along with barbecue, happy hour prices, and live music.
Event #3: Summer menu at Seasons 52: Seasons 52 has recently released a new menu and we had the occasion to try some of the new dishes recently. The menu includes our recommended appetizer, the Grilled Chipotle Spiced Chicken Skewers ($8.95), which are served on top of summer corn salad and tomatillo salsa. We also strongly recommend you try the Carmelized Grilled Sea Scallops $21.95, which are served with sweet corn risotto, snap peas, toybox tomatoes, and drizzled with lemon butter. The sweet corn risotto is likely the best risotto we've had and it pairs extremely well with the carmelized scallops.
